it sounds like you have a leak and that there is to much air and the computer is adjusting it to match fuel to air ratio. what you can do is take a can of carb clean and spray around the throttle body and intake, spray the vaccumm lines there is a leak some where and when you notice a idle change look to see what the problem might be. this is just a test if it doesnt work there are other things that can be tried just let me know what you find with the carb test.

Ok I don't know if you have fixed you problem or not and don't know if this will work for you.. i have a 2003 2500 hemi and when I broke a valve spring it went into a limp mode and after I restart it after fixing my valve I had the same issues. It would kick up to 1500rpm and I had to reset my pedal because it's a drive by wire system. It's called a "APPS" (accelerator pedal position sensor) I don't know if that's your probleml. https://m.youtube.com/watch? v=VvRC4qpVyyM
