When a fuel pump is going out, it doesn't reach pressure quick enough, so the first attempt to start just primes the fuel system. The second attempt to start finishes the job. Have the fuel pump checked for pressure.

Put it in the run position one time instead of trying to start it , then start it and see if that has the same effect . Not sure what the problem is but you won't have to crank it twice .
