Asked by Dewon May 25, 2018 at 11:25 AM about the 2004 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Quad Cab LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can someone tell me what potential problems that I'm experiencing the AC on
my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500? The temperature is 80 degrees outside and the
inside of the vehicle is cooling at 60 degrees. The low side gauge is reading 42
psi and the high side gauge is ready 240 psi.

If the pressure readings were taken with the ac running then its properly charged. First thing to do is check your cabin air filter and make sure its cleaned or replace with a fresh one if needed. A dirty filter could keep it from cooling enough. Or, It could be a problem with airflow over the condenser, if the fins on the condenser coil are too dirty it could block airflow and keep it from cooling the refrigerant enough.

If neither of those are a problem then the blend door actuator could cause this. If the blend door doesnt shut all the way then it could be mixing in a little heated air with the cooled air.
