Ram hemi swap

Asked by darth Aug 20, 2016 at 01:12 AM about the 2004 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab RWD

Question type: General

So I'm trying to find a replacement hemi for my
2004 5.7 1500. I found a great price on a 2006
hemi but I believe it has the MDS system and I
don't think my 2004 does. Would it be possible
to swap out the heads to the 2006 and use this
engine?

We don't really like engine swap questions here on the forum. Why? Because there are too many variables, too many mid year changes. I can tell you that in 2006 Dodge Rams the MDS system debuted. According to Wikipedia it was only on the 1500 series trucks in that year. Perhaps a website like ramforumz.com would be of some help. Swapping out your heads would be putting possibly worn out parts on a newer fresher engine. Best of luck with it.
