Poor Gas Mileage 2004 Ram 1500

I am experiencing 7.7 mpg or less in the city, any ideas if this is normal or not and what
are the causes if its not normal. i only drive in the city and for short trips.

engine size 5.7 Hemi , 4X2 , automatic transmission axle ratios how do i know this?

even if you had the 3.92 rear axle and were doing burnouts at every light, you should get better than that. don't expect more than about 15mpg though.
