Trailer Brake wiring

Asked by GuruVHJWZ Aug 26, 2018 at 04:06 PM about the 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 a 4 wire trailer connector. I have added a 7 pin trailer connector. The truck has a 40 fuse for trailer battery and brakes, but I can't find the ends of the wires to make the last two connections. Where did dodge hide them?

If you don't see the wires with the others, it's possible the truck never had the option applied. You would need to run additional wiring for the remaining connections. On models that have the 4-pole, the brake controller output circuit will NOT be ran all the way to the rear of the vehicle. It should be under the hood behind the drivers side wheel well. If you need a 12-volt accessory lead (Trailer Battery), you will need to run a wire from the positive battery terminal to the rear also. Hope this helps.
