2003 dodge ram 1500 door lock how to test

Asked by Ricardochaparro Feb 09, 2017 at 06:28 PM about the 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought 2003 ram 1500 no power locks, and i went
to a junk yard to buy the oem locks from a ram
there. The guy there told me to test and gave me a
12v battery and we tested and all did not work.  I
dont know if those work with 12v or lower voltage
from alarm system.
Thank you for help

Yes, 12V car battery. I see there is more than one or two terminals, I see 4 on the one I am looking at that the plugin goes onto, so its a matter of finding the right terminals to test them with 2 wires. Really not going to hurt them since power is just reversed for lock and unlock.

Probably the best thing to do is pick out what you need at the junk yard, and have them mark them with their yellow marker, and ask them if they don't work to be able to take them back. Take them home and just plug them in and try them. May have to put the metal mounting surface on the door for a ground. Wouldn't necessarily have to mount them. Door switches are a common problem for them to not to work also.
