Timing chain rear main seal

02 Dodge ram 1500, 160k has timing chain noise
and rear main seal leaking is it possible the two are
linked together by a more serious issue in the
motor. The motoelr sounds strong other then the
rattling odlf the timing chain

No, the only common factor would be mileage on the motor, how hard it was driven, affected by extreme cold, lack of regular oil changes. Both are wear items, when they're done, they're done. I'd say the timing chain is the more pressing matter. Not sure if you can get clearance to replace rear main without pulling motor or lifting it in place a few inches or not, it would be nice to replace both at same time.
