Truck wont drive

Asked by VigorosoRocket Jul 18, 2018 at 05:14 AM about the 2002 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Plus Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

In stop and go traffic, went to go forward after a few second stop and the
truck would only go a few feet then all of sudden stopped. Engine was still
running, no fault lights everything in cab looked good. Got out checked drive
shaft, no problem there. Transmission fluid was normal. only way i was able
to get of the road was to restart drive a few feet and it would stopped
suddenly again. Anyone had this problem before? What fixed it?

How dijya measure the tranny fluid, park or neutral? Do it in neutral, it makes a difference. If no joy, jack up the rear wheels, start her up, put her n drive n see what happens.

checked it in neutral. Just jacked up rear wheels and it put in drive it seems to be doing same thing. The drive axle stopped so I am figuring it has something to do with transmission. Dropped the trans pan, no metal in pan and normal fluid color and smell. just a little bit of the clutch material on the magnet.
