Truck won't start unless foot is on gas

Asked by Fred Apr 04, 2020 at 06:42 PM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 ST RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 5.2 V8. The battery kept
dying so I replaced the alternator. It then wouldn't start
unless foot is on gas. I replaced TPS and IAC, it started fine
and drove about 50 miles. I parked it and then it happened
again. I reset the PCM and it idled twice in a row fine. I left
over night and now it's doing it again? Is there something
else to try? It's my main ride to college so I need any
suggestions.

1 Answer

If anyone else needs this. I'm 90% percent sure it's my battery. The truck needs at least 12volts to idle correctly/start correctly and if your battery is weaker than that it may be the issue. I will confirm once I get more money to afford a battery
