O/d light came on

Asked by Darla Sep 27, 2018 at 12:54 PM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

O/d light came on while driving.  O/D button has
no effect on light.  What does this mean and what
do I do?  Is the transmission going out?

You might have a faulty sensor that activates the light. If there's no difference in how your truck shifts and how it slows down, it's nothing major.

There is a big difference and it is sucking gas....

mine dose the same thing and the light wiil go on and off of its self and then will shift after a few mins driveing but then it keeps going on and off as i drive but now it will down shift the same was at times but none of the lights will come on but tranny is not slipping and help ? 2001 dodge v6 auto trans and od button will turn it on and off when i want it to but when it dose it by its self the button wont work
