best way to determine if air & fuel mixture is right when hitting gas pedal seem to hear more noise than feel movement if you know what i mean.

The mixture is computer controlled. Not much you can do there. How's your air filter looking? Maybe a cold air induction is in your future.

It is possible to have the Stator within the Torque Converter fail and cause something like that. You may have an Engine Cooling Fan (Thermocoupler) that is engaged all the time that makes it sound as though the engine is really working hard. No offense but the old "Ass-ometer" really isn't a way of measuring performance.
