2000 Dodge ram 1500 will not crank

Asked by Cascada_330 Feb 26, 2017 at 08:59 PM about the 2000 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Went to look at truck to purchase. Truck had a dead battery so I jumped it off and ran fine. after about five minutes of running I was about to climb in for a test drive when it just died. tried cranking....nothing. Hooked jumpers back up and nothing. No clicking or anything. I could hear the fuel pump whirring.  Checked all fuses and relays under dash and hood. All good. Did notice that the radio would not light up and before I started the truck it was. I checked alternator while engine was running and got 14.5 amps at battery. I don't think is a battery issue. I had read about a faulty ignition switch or starter. Kind of leaning towards ignition switch since it just died all of a sudden.
