Locks

Asked by Ss307 Nov 29, 2016 at 03:46 PM about the 2000 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Quad Cab LB RWD

Question type: General

I have a 2000 dodge ram laramie 1500 my tunno cover is hooked up to my power locks. They will
not unlock the cover. I never got a key for it when I bought it so I can't even get to the handle to
replace it. Any ideas? Door locks work fine.

You will have to try to access the lock power wire which is probably under the bed of the truck. You should test for power to the wire when the power locks are un-locked. If there is no power then trace it out and find out why. You probably could run a wire directly from the battery to the lock wire to un-lock the tonneau cover. Once it is open then have the locks replaced. Since the cover is aftermarket I am guessing that there is a bad connection where they spliced into your trucks wiring although they might have installed an inline fuse which might be bad.
