1999 Dodge Ram

Asked by Cordell Jan 12, 2016 at 06:37 PM about the 1999 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the spark plugs in my 99 Dodge Ram
and then my motor starts skipping and when I hit
the gas it acts like it wants to die. I can't even get it
to go over 10mph. Any suggestions on what it
could be?

If all this happened right after the plug job I would make sure that all the wires are where they are supposed to be and that the plugs are gapped properly. Also, scan for codes.

I scanned for codes and it said That a couple cyliders were misfiring and to check the o2 sensor but I haven't had time to check the o2 sensor. I just checked the firing order and it was all correct

Older vehicles like yours may have a mixture of dirt and oil near the opening of the spark plug hole when installing new plugs may have picked some up and is in between electrode and prong will have to remove each plug and check and clean.
