Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Genius level question. Have a 99 Ram 1500 Pick up truck. Low beams would not work. Traced the ppl/wt wire from head light to dimmer switch. The dimmer controls the ground on this truck. found a broken wire and repaired it. Head light now work as designed. Now the left turn indicator in dash is on all the time. I turn on parking lights and both indicators light up and parking lights do not work. I try the turn signals and the flasher clicks very fast and lights barely light up. The under hood light, O/D off light, and the odometer flashes in time with turn signal flasher. Where should I look for the cause of my electrical issue?

Maybe the stalk switch has an internal problem all though you may have hooked up the broken wire to the wrong wire.

I've tried 3 different switches, one was new. The wire was chafed and broken by corrosion. I've checked the easy stuff. I'm looking for someone with real knowledge about dodge electrical.

For any one that comes across this issue, there is a ground lug on the fender apron under the battery. About 9 wires are crimped in a connector, that is the ground for most light on this truck. battery acid leaked onto the connector and compromised half the grounds in the connector
