tow package wiring harness

Asked by GuruZQ2GH Jan 07, 2023 at 11:39 PM about the 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT RWD

Question type: General

I have the tow package option on 98 dodge ram pickup. But the electrical
wiring harness does not go all the way to the receiver hitch. The brake
controller plug is blue and labeled under the dash above the emergency
brake. Wires go through the fire wall from the controller plug and end some
where? The must be factory plugs to extended the harness back to the rear
bumper. Where do I find them?

I would think the harness plug would tie into the wires in the back , solder your connections , If brake and directional share a bulb they are the same wire . The brake light can run through the directional switch and that can throw people for a loop .
