i put a new oil pump in my 98 dodge 1500 4x4 5.9l and i am having issues with the oil pressure building back up what would be the cause if this?

There is a pressure release valve, usually behind the oil filter, in the oil filter housing. A round hole, with a screen? Can't quite remember. May want to take off the oil filter house to investigate, or check some more on line about this.
