I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2l. I turned it on and shuts right off. I can only keep it running while hitting the gas pedal. Sometimes it's cranking really slow then cranks normal. What can it be?

Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down.

Ok I will do that. I haven't done that being the fact I don't have a light on. Thanks I will try that

I had a 97 2500 Ram van which would cut out and not restart, particularly in wet weather. Left it with a Dodge mechanic for a week and he found a wire where the computer plugs in that was not fully insulated. He put some electrical tape on it and it solved the problem. This was after I had the computer replaced twice. It was under warranty.
