Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok It's been a while since I have been on here but had got some really good help last time. Hope you guys can help. 97 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd 5.2  The other night while driving the RPM's shot up to 4k while on the interstate when I pulled over I found no fluid on the tranny stick and a line on the trans cooler had shot off and fluid was everywhere. I had to MacGyver it with some Duck tape, a safety pin and bubble gum lol nah just duck tape. anyways once I got the line secure and added a quart of fluid I had in the truck... it still would not shift into any gear... Truck engine sounded fine minus a slight lifter hitting on the passenger side. I don't want to give up on the truck because my son wanted to keep the old truck for when he turns 16 but I am not sure on what to do with transmissions...my knowledge is not ASE certified or anything but I am a do it your selfer and not afraid to get dirty.  Any help from you guys would be extremely helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance

If you had no fluid on the tranny stick you ejected a lot more than one quart. Fill the puppy up and see what happens.

Will do. And thanks for the replys. Gonna get to work on it in the morning. Fingers crossed
