Is it ok to swap a 46rh to a 46re?

I have 97 dogde ram 1500 reg cab 2x4 5.9l,  the tranny that
it has i believe it is the 46rh( my transmission has the OD
end pointy)  but it is going bad its stuck on third gear.  I
found some one selling a 46re( that had the OD end non
pointy),  can i swap it out for an 46re?

I would bet that the ECU will not operated the other transmission properly.

If u have a 97 it's the 46re it should have a big round 8 pin black plug on it on top its rh it will have a 3 pin n that pot for tourk conver lockups
