Third brake light

I got a 1997 dodge ram 1500, bought a new 3rd brake light
and when I plug it in the reverse lights pop on and stay on
no matter what until you unplug it. But the stock one works
fine but not the aftermarket one? What can I do to fix this
problem so I can use the aftermarket 3rd brake light?

I'm having the same issues. But now I plugged it in a 2nd time and my dome light stopped working my radio and electric mirrors also. At the same time. When the last 2 years everything worked just fine till I plugged in my recon led break light. I do have the break light part working (center only) any ideas????
