Is it a clogged cat?

Asked by Courtney Sep 03, 2013 at 02:30 PM about the 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced fuel pump/line. Replaced plugs,
wires, cap, rotor. Truck misses at and over
2750 rpm. Fuel pressure is good. Timing
cover gasket let go during a running test.
Lead me to exhaust. Hissing noise was
present. Fixed donut gasket. Noise is still
there. Think it's the cat ,but I don't want to
spend $300 without another opinion.

take the Y pipe off the manifolds, just to see will be loud as hell but at least you will be able to tell if its plugged. Does it just miss or fall on it's face?

sounds like a catalytic converter restriction but could also be fuel related, do a fuel pressure test too
