1996 Ram 1500 just stopped running

Asked by Seriously Aug 31, 2010 at 03:30 PM about the 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was dirving my truck just now at lunch, was running fine, oil pressure good, temp normal, alternator normal.  As pulling back into the parking lot here at work it stalled out, and wouldn't restart.  it kind of coughed and sputtered when trying to restart, but wouldn't keep running.  Its quite hot and humid today, could that be the issue?

Could be a hundred things... you need to diagnose a little, can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key forward? Check for fuel pressure at the rail, check for spark on multiple cylinders, make sure it is nice and strong..... if you have both of those then start looking at sensors.... cam or crank sensors are famous for crapping out and causing these symptoms
