transmission heat light comes on but all the coads read ok?

See if there is a lubegard additive for your model. The red bottle works good. It help the fluid last longer and keep it from getting as hot, may need a service on it, new fluid and filter, standard change (no power flushes). Also may not need any of that, check connections to trans to see if any are loose or need cleaned out with electrical board contact cleaner spray and use dielectric grease in connector. Check for bare or broken wires to trans, cracked connectors ect. Computer module for trans may need reset by a trans code reader/reset unit. If it is getting hot add a larger trans oil cooler or a fan to yours if it has a large one already and make sure you radiator fans are working and your engine is at proper temp.
