Tranny problem # 2

Hi I'm back with a nother question about my tranny on my
96 dodge 1500 4x4 ext cab I have a tranny from a 91
dodge 4x4 they both have the 5.2 318 and I was wondering
if the rear housing can be swaped from one to the other the
one from the 91 is mising a plug on the rear colum every
thing maches up other then that but I don't want stuff
blowing apart when I open it I know nothing about the in
side of a tranny but I'm trying to learn

do you need the plug? is it for a speed sensor?if so the innards must match the sensor.

Not to sure what the plug is for but I think it's some sort of indicator censor it's located on the back of the tranny on the driver side bottom both trannys r for speed over drives push button on the dash
