Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had it towed home today, checked the oil, rusty at top, but oil looks clear &
fine, not seeing oil in rad tank. gonna drain and inspect fluids, anyway,
thinking maybe water got in dipstick tube, from tank spray, need an expert
opinion. Thanks for any help you can give. Waterpump? Thermostat? Both?
Neither?

The dipstick problem may be from condensation. Do you drive this truck much or does it sit a lot? I would do some cooling system maintenance - hoses, flush, thermostat.

bought it 3 weeks ago, I drive it to work 15 miles each way, six days a week, not sure about before.

yeah, gonna start there, heading out to the parts store now. back later, thanks

Do an oil change too. If there is moisture in the engine you want to get clean oil in there.

Well, picked up a thermostat, hoses, flush kit, oil & filter, magnetic drain plug, red rtv, serpentine belt, tranny filter, had planned on those already, and went ahead and grabbed a water pump, also bought a couple of large clear plastic tubs, for draining, and inspection of engine fluids. Forgot the Radiator Cap...dang it!
