What would cause the check engine light not to
work on a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 360 v8

When you first turn the ignition on, most vehicles will initiate a lamp test. Does it light up during the test? Refer to the owners manual that may give you a procedure for a lamp test. If it's not illuminating, then like Rowe said, bad bulb or socket, bad ground etc..

Light worked ,now don't I'm trying to figure this thing out ,no spark no start, I've replaced pcm,coil,,cap rotor distance pick up crank sensor nothing

Hillbilly that had the truck before me fried the pcm and the red hot wire that powers pcm as well as 2 others replaced them correctly so to get proper voltage pulling my hair out on this thing help
