Can transmission be repaired?

Asked by Mike Jul 11, 2023 at 11:36 AM about the 2006 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My reverse is going/gone out on my 2006
Dodge Dakota SLT.
The engine was revving at a high RPM and was
shifted into reverse about 2 weeks ago
Started slipping, now have very little reverse.
Is that something that can be fixed or am I in
the market for a new transmission ?

Your looking at a complete rebuild at least. I would have a good transmission shop check it out. They will give you your best option, rebuild your unit or an exchange transmission.

You should be in the market for another vehicle. Transmission repairs are not cheap and getting yours fixed will cost more than the vehicle is worth! Jim
