2001 Chevy S-10 rear Light Problem

Asked by stevie66_pa Mar 23, 2013 at 03:50 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet S-10 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This one has me baffled. I have a 2001 Chevy S-10 with the V6/auto trans/2wd. The rear lights are acting up. Sometimes they work perfectly but then all heck breaks loose. What happens is the right rear turn signal blinks fast but the front one will be at the regular rate. The tail & brake lights dim while this is happening AND the backup lights both flash! Other than demonic possession I cannot figure this one out. The bulbs have all been replaced and the wiring from the bed to the rear lights has been checked...all was fine...Any suggestions to where I start to look next?
Thanks,
Steve M.

Look for a bad ground wire. Power is back feeding through the reverse lights. That's what is making them flash. You can add new ground wires instead of finding what went wrong.

Try replacing your turn signal multifunction switch sounds like that’s your problem.

Turn signal switch just had the same problem. 98 Sonoma rwd 4.3 also fixed my temp gauge for some reason an all my light in the dash got brighter
