I figure anyone still driving a POS 2001 cavalier is probably someone in need of real car advice to keep it going, lol. So that said, it's hard to suggest anything without more information, like what was it doing when it died? You might have a faulty alternator and a dead battery. You might have a bad ignition, or plug wires, or bad spark plugs. You might have a bad throttle body... Give a better description of what it was doing up to it dying.

a friend son passed and he gave the car to my wife he said that the car had not been driven for a while anyway i get it home put a new battery on it and it started right up run good for about a month till yesterday going down the road oil light comes on then second later it stalled a friend said that it could be a safety feature to add oil so after checking the oil which it did need. i added oil still wouldn't start
