My chev s10 takes off at stop signal I have to press hard on the brake what happening

Sounds like the engine is idling fast. Could be the Throttle Positioning Sensor, or a broken wire at the plugin at the TPS, or even a bad vacuum leak. If the check engine light it on should have the vehicle scanned for any trouble codes, which can be done at an auto parts store. Write the codes down to know what to repair. Or you should take it into a shop for repair.
