will a transmission from a 1998 V6 S-10 fit a 1995 plain jane 5 speed?

Assuming that they are both 4.3L v6's, and both 2 wheel drive, yes you can put the 1998 tranny into the 1995

I have a 1998 Chevy s10 with the 2.2 engine with the 5 speed transmission. I'm looking to put a vortex 4.3 v6 in it but will it bolt up to the 5 speed transmission
