take the cap off and make note of the rotor position. The new distributor needs to go in the same way when seated. Undo plug wires, and any connecters. Remove hold down bolt. pull distributor out, it is kinda cramped but possible. DO NOT ROTATE ENGINE WITH DISTRIBUTOR OUT!!! There is a oil pump drive gear on the end of the distributor that only allows it to go in 2 ways, the correct way or 180 degrees out. Assuming you didnt rotate the engine as that alignment will be out of whack. Just set it down in there and make sure it seats ALL the way and not 1/4 inch up. then just tighten it down and connect everything back up

If you haven't started already I would recommend rolling you engine over to TDC on the compression stroke. Just in case something happens then you have a starting point, you never know when Karma will get you. I use a plastic ty-wrap in the spark plug hole. At least this way you have a starting point if something happens.
Would a distributor out of a 02 blazer work in 96 jimmy with the same motor
