Sound in my 2001 blazer

Asked by stuters Apr 26, 2015 at 04:44 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Blazer LS 2-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I back up I hear a tink like my muffler is rattling a little but then when I put in gear to go forward I hear a little tire whistling sound going round and round them it disappears. I only hear from first backing up to going forward for a short time. Any ideas what this could be?

The noise may be a loose heat shield on the exhaust, the whistle may be something in the tire like a nail or screw creating a slow leak, inspect it.

I am thinking it could be the uv joint. We just replaced it a year ago and it might be that. When I come to a complete stop it rattles and clunks and makes noise for a little bit then it stops. It does it sometimes not all the time.
