2006 ford Taurus, has new battery but will not turn over.

It hadn't been used for two weeks, battery was dead so I replaced it, now will
not turn over at all. The lights come on and the door ļocks ,electric mirror as
well as the dome light. No dash lights or prestart lights or radio .
Any ideas would helpful.

check all of your battery connections. both ends. then try to jump start. You might have a parasitic draw on your battery. Also have your alternator tested and scan the computer for codes.

We tried changing the positive wire tonight and the didn't make a difference

My 2006 Ford Taurus was doing the same thing just 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, it turned out to need a new fuel pump. I replaced that and it starts just fine now. But, I’ve incurred another issue or 2 should I say with this darn blasted car!! Check engine has been on since I owned the car and now and now a low oil pressure light came on too and the car shut off on me while driving yesterday. I just got it back from the shop 3 days ago prior to that happening! I am hating this car but it is paid for.

I have a 2004 Ford Taurus (automatic transmission) which has sat idle for the last couple of years with some occaisional startings, but not driven. Battery was dead and we recharged and moved the car around to start getting it road worthy. Found that the gear/transmission handle was extremely hard to shift from park to drive and reverse. Took great effort to shift into any of the selections, but it did function over the weekend. Went to start the car up yesterday and car won't turn over. Battery is powering all systems and lights (no dimming of lights/radio interior systems all function), but car won't attempt to start, not even a click from the starter which worked perfectly over the weekend. Could the neutral safety switch have any hand in preventing car from starting. 3 Answers

Car started fine over the weekend, but shifting from park to reverse/Drive/Low were all very stiff.

Hello, I have a 2006 Ford taurus SEL 3.0. Thew check charging system indicator comes on. The red battery light comes on after about 15 seconds after startup. If the battery is strong it does not come on but after a few starts the battery weakens and the light and warning come on.
