Question type: Maintenance & Repair

no crank no start. I can turn the ingnition once and sometimes as many as
40 times befor it starts. when it finally dose it is instant. no winding or fussing.
it either crank or i turn the key over and over until it does. this has been
going on for a year. full battery , fuses all fine. Starter good. ready to replace
ignition but I think I am wasting my money. I will do this anyway and then
start replcing ignition coils. Any answers that can save me money and time?

Susan, triple check your battery connections, I know I know, but this will happen with a connection that isn't tight. Also, on passenger side on tranny hump, pull the carpet back, think it's one screw. There's a ground there, make sure it's nice and clean, this ground covers a lot of things, I sanded down to bare metal on this one. Do these prior to replacing the ignition switch. Good news is, AC Delco ignition switch is fairly cheap, and easy to install yourself.
