Radiator fan

Asked by Guru9NZFB Jul 06, 2017 at 04:06 AM about the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The radiator fan ( fan clutch) needs replacing.
When ordering the part one says replacement
electric fan clutch and another just says
replacement fan clutch so which one is the right
part electric or no?

does the fan mount to the front of the engine or is it free-standing (nothing is hooked into the belts/pulleys area). If its free-standing, its electric

They're the same one, there's only one fan clutch for our I6 engine. Heads up, Autozone has a lifetime warranty, get one that has a lifetime warranty, not necessarily one online. You can save by going to rockauto, but warranty isn't as good. If you hear ticking after you install it (very common), rip it out, and get another one. Time saving tip for you, cut a notch in the fan shroud where the upper radiator hose is. Makes this job cake.

If your fan clutch is electric on the driver side top of radaitor you will see plug in for your fan clutch
