Swapping an engine

Asked by Zmanmoino Aug 05, 2018 at 01:51 PM about the 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty XL SuperCab LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 F250 with seized motor. I
came across at 2002 engine which we
have no access to the VIN number of the
vehicle that came out of but I am
assuming it is a 3V my 5.4 is 3 V. So I'm
wondering if I can use this engine in my
truck considering that it comes with PCM
and it is a complete engine and if so do I
have to replace any other parts. Any help
will greatly appreciated

You might be able to make it work but the old PCM won't work with your transmission. If it did work your truck would never pass smog inspection.

Thank you so much for responding. I was afraid of that. Let me ask you this, prior to the engine stop running while I was driving on Highway I had problem with the phasers which caused the engine run very sloppy and noisy without any power for a short time . I would have to turn to engine off and restart it then it would Ron just fine for several hundred miles or sometimes thousands. Unfortunately I put it off for too long. My question is can broken timing chain or broken parts from the phasers could fall down in the lower part causing the engine to seize up? And in case that is what happened do you think it would cause damage to other parts of the engine? Thank you so much for taking time and trying to help me out.
