My truck won't go over 98 mph but the speedometer tops out at 120 but the gauge won't go faster than 98. How do I make it to where my speed reaches at 120 again?

It is probably the governor kicking in, it is programmed to do this. You will not reach 120mph

My Ford will top out at about 100 but the issue is the limiter. I have heard that performance programmers can eliminate the limiter.

Without the limiter you would likely be able to top a hundred but I doubt you would reach 120. Almost all cars have speedos that have a higher range than what the car will actually do. A 120 mph speedometer means 60 is at the top center which is probably why Ford used that range.

My Corolla speedometer goes to 110 and I have had it up to 100 and it was tacking at 6100 rpm. But I only ever did that one time on a back road that nobody would have gotten killed but me. And I have 130mph rated tires or I would never have tried to see what it would do. The VVTi works, that's for sure

Your truck may have a limiter built into it. My 2010 f-150 does. I could override it as per the owner's manual, But I never drive at 80+ anyway; and surely don't want anyone I happen to lend the truck to do so either.

I had a 2011 f150 5.0. I purchased a superchips tuner and it allowed my truck to drive over 140mph. The tuner also served as a digital speedometer. I also had an air raid intake and throttle body spacer, and flow master exhaust. I currently have a 2014 f150 fx4 3.5l EcoBoost, current mods are afe dual filter intake and the diablosport trinity 2 tuner... it's a whole diffrent beast now.

I have a 08 f150 it’s your speed limiter you can use a tuner to turn it off my truck would not go over 95mph at 3600 rpm I turned it off and it will run about 115-118 before it’s unsafe to drive I wouldn’t suggest doing it unless you have all the proper parts. (Tires, truck drive train regular maintenance, ETC)
