the headlights stay on even when the truck is off and kills the battery ....

Do you have auto lamps? Note the diagram, if you pull those three fuses it should kill the lamps, Till you figure out the proper fix. At least it won't run down the battery. There are trouble codes for autolamps, they are B type codes. Even if I had the code, not sure I could track it down? Just trying to be honest and helpful at the same time. As far as troubleshooting, you have to start, somewhere.
