does the ford 5.4 have a low oil pressure shutoff?

Asked by Familia_1407 Jan 27, 2017 at 02:02 PM about the 2005 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If the Ford 5.4 V8 runs low of oil will the engine shutoff to prevent damage to
it?

1 Answer

I doubt it. I have not heard of a car yet that has a low oil pressure shut off. If you lost oil pressure and the engine quit, it probably is locked up.
