poor gas mileage on 2002F-150

i just bought a 2002 F150 4.2 6L and it's only getting 8 mpg. I spent $700 on
tune up and fuel injector overhaul and it only increased the mpg by maybe 1
mpg. Something else I might try?

You might be looking at a transmission problem. If you drive on the highway a lot and the transmission is not shifting into overdrive that'll kill your gas mileage. Also, poor driving habits like zooming away from stop signs, and driving excessively fast will cut into your gas mileage. Hope that helps! Jim
