2001 F150 won't start intermittantly

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

6 months ago had a similar issue. Replaced fuel filter, switched out the two big box
fuses and nothing. Starts to work again till the other day. Noticed that if the steering
wheel was centered, I'd have better luck. Parked straight for awhile and no issues. The
shifter appears to be in the correct place, but was able to get it to start by pulling it to
the left. No that does not work. Yesterday, pulled the truck around and parked straight.
won't start. Tried all of the above, but not luck. Made sure the steering column lock was
engaged  and fiddled with it. No luck. Pulled it out and dropped it as far down as it
would go. Bingo. Turned it off and adjusted it all the way up, and started again. Any
ideas about what is going on?

Switch is fine. Turns freely. Checked out the wiring in column and it all looks good except a loose wire by hazards. All that near switch appears intact. Replaced iac control last year and cleaned throttle body. Not Sure what else to try. Thoughts?

I think tst is referring to the electronic part of the ignition switch, not the tumblers, may have to take the cover off around the column to get to it
