Have power to everything, won't turn over

Asked by Wild77 Jan 13, 2018 at 09:06 AM about the 2001 Ford F-150 Lariat Crew Cab 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Going down the interstat on cruise control at about
75 mph, the motor revved up real high, then it just
shut down. Coasted to the side of the road, now I
have power to everything but the motor won't turn
over

No I did not try and jump it, when I turn the key all the gauges jump wide open for a sec then it just clicks once and nothing, no clicking no roll over , nothing

When I get back to the truck I will try. The oil light was bouncing on and off too now that I think about it.that just started happening ,but there was plenty of oil in it. Oil pressure safety switch perhaps

When the oil light was bouncing around there was no change in the motor, if you held it at 2000 rpms and the light came on and the arrow dropped down there was no change in motor it stayed the same didn't bog down ,or anything remotely like that

Put a socket wrench on the crankshaft bolt a see if you can turn the engine clockwise. If it won't turn the engine is seized. It shouldn't take much effort to turn it.
