Ignition Ford F-150 2000 5.4

Asked by GuruC41VZ Jan 30, 2019 at 11:46 PM about the 2000 Ford F-150 Lariat Extended Cab Stepside SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am having issues starting truck. Temp replace of
Ignition switch & ignition key separately did not
change status. I’m thinking from years ago a break
in to try and steel truck left loose ignition some
times rare I would have to unlock steering by
turning to get ignition key to move and turn on.

Starter is about two years old

Interesting diagnosis today noticing that if radio
does not come on in accessory key position truck
won’t start. Hear the radio in accessories mode
truck starts.

What’s Up?

I have the same issues with an 08 Exp'd. Check grounds they have been know to corrode. I even ran a new ground to the body. (Didn't help) Disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes to reset the BCM (Body control module) if it starts up you have a bad BCM- Know Ford issue.
