Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 2002 chevy cavalier 2.2 liter four cylinder that i am going to use to race figure 8 in the county fair, so i dont know if i want to pour too much money into it, but it is using anitfreeze really bad, and the oil is a very muddy brown color, i know that either the head is cracked, or the head gasket is bad, but i dont want to tear it apart to find that the head is bad, but i am willing to to put a gasket in... how do i tell?

Either way the head has to come off, theyre known for Head Gaskets so good chance it is...pull out the plugs and see whats on them, best way to tell which side its leaking from
