Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband says he thought the truck may need some water because it
was running funny, later on that light, while I was trying the truck continue
to act as if it wanted to cut off. I pull to the said and it cut off. I tried to start
it back up, but it would not just made a click sound. It will turn and the lights
come on but it won't start up? I had two so called mac" look at it one said it
was the engine and the other one said the fuel pump or electrical
computer. I just put a new engine in 3 years ago and a new pump a couple
of months ago. Any suggestions on what it may be

Sound to me that the alternator is not working. Sounds like you are running off of battery power until it is gone, thus the engine quitting. I'd put a charge on the battery, try and get the truck started, and with a digital multi-meter, check at the battery to see if there is 14.5 DCV while it is running. If not then the alternator is not working.

Before removing the battery, check for codes from the check engine plug (OBDII). If u see that lights work, they may be weak from a discharged battery and doesn't have enough power to turn enginge. If it is charged, check battery cables including at the starter end for corrosion or looseness

I took the battery to a autoshop to charge, the battery was no good. Could this have been the issue? The battery was dying on me? Going to get battery Friday, so I will update.
