My ford didn’t start to after shutting the engine off took a long time to find out that there was dirt in the gear shift solenoid from the auto gearbox. Tapped it a couple off times and she starts like new

I had same problem with my Ford F-150. Took it to 3 different mechanics including the local dealership. They all ran their tests and got their codes and couldn't figure it out. The solution was actually pretty old school (I had to do this myself for reasons that I cannot fathom). 1. Make sure you have a good battery. 2. Try jumping the solenoid. 3. Remove the starter (three bolts but not easy because of their position under the truck -- if you have a lift, much recommended). Have the starter tested at an auto parts store. In my case the problem was the starter and replacing the starter resolved the problem.
