ENGINE SWAP

I have a 1997 F150 and the engine blew. Can I put the engine from a 2003
F250 in? Will everything just "drop right in" and "plug and play" They
dropped it in and there are some issues with noises. It sounds like a fan is
grinding or someting. The transmission responds to the engine and there are  
no issues on that part of it. ** Be nice guys..... I'm pulling the "Girl Card" on
this one! And it's my first time doing something like this.... so can anyone
help me out? ANYTHING is appreciated. Even criticism.

Sounds like the engine is already in and running. Did you or anyone reprogram the PCM for the new engine? Were there any sensors on the 2003 engine the 1997 did not have? If you are missing a sensor or two the engine will not run properly. The parameters (inputs) from the new engine may not be the same as for the 1997 engine. Resulting in the PCM trying to adjust the new engine to the program specifications of the old engine. Also, jot down the VIN of the new engine and save it. If a mechanic shop tries to adjust or repair the engine in the future, they will be pulling their hair out trying to figure out what the problem is.
